Growing up I spent many hours just watching my mom sew while I played with fabric and made little pillows, doll clothes, and anything else I could think of. Eventually I decided that I wanted to be a costume designer and spent half of each school day in high school at our vocational school learning to design and create garment patterns and expanding my skills. Quilting came into my life during that time and I found quilts appealing, but just didn’t have time to explore the medium. Fast forward several years and I found myself with a UFO inherited from my mom. I would pick it up and work on it every once in a while, but I really didn’t know what to do with it. Eventually I found a friend in a fellow fabric-addict who was also a quilter. Within a few months the quilt was finished and I was hooked! In addition to quilting I also enjoy embroidery, garment sewing, and exploring the history of various needlecrafts. While I didn’t end up a professional costume designer, I am thrilled to have landed here at QN where everyday I get to write patterns, play with fabric, and talk quilts!
