Quilts have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I delighted in listening to my grandmother identify the scraps of fabric in her quilts. "Oh, look, there's a piece of your mother's sun dress." It was a challenge to correctly match a fabric to the appropriate family member and corresponding item of clothing - Aunt Alice's yellow apron and Uncle Walt's striped pajamas. My quilts are made of new fabrics, yet each holds its own memories - a favorite song that played as I stitched a particular block or a day spent storming the quilt shops with my sister. I've grown up to make many quilts of my own, to work in several quilt shops, and to teach quiltmaking. Now I am thrilled to read and write about quilts as an editor here at Quilters Newsletter.
