Celebrate 45 Years of Quilting Quilt Challenge

Quilters Newsletter is proud to celebrate its 45th year in 2014.

From humble beginnings at the kitchen table of founders Bonnie and George Leman in Denver, Colorado, Quilters Newsletter has become a trusted international source for all things quilting. To commemorate this milestone in our long, storied history, we've presented the Celebrate 45 Years of Quilting Quilt Challenge. Each quilt which was accepted as an entry in this challenge was approximately 45" x 45" and was submitted with a statement of why it celebrates 45 years of quilting.

Sixteen finalists were selected from the entries submitted and from those sixteen, five winners were selected: one grand prize winner and four runners-up. All sixteen finalist quilts, including the winners, will be on exhibit at the Quilting LIVE! event in Atlanta, Georgia, September 11, 12 and 13, 2014. They will also be featured in the December/January 2015 issue of Quilters Newsletter.

We're proud to announce the winners, which are:

Grand Prize: Afton Warrick’s XLV

First Runner Up Prize: Judy Martin’s The Fabric of My Life: 1969-2014

Second Runner Up Prize: Carolyn Hughey’s 45 Years of Memories

Third Runner Up Prize: Ilene King’s You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby!

Fourth Runner Up Prize: Karen Williamson’s Dahlia Revisited

We would also like to thank the sponsors for our Celebrate 45 Years of Quilting Challenge:

These quilts are magnificent! They're all winners to me. Someday I hope to be able to quilt as well as these people do.
