Exotic Influences in Early Quilt Art

Sandra Sider

In the April/May 2010 issue of Quilters Newsletter, Sandra Sider presents “Exotic Influences in Early Quilt Art.” She describes how 10 well-known quilt artists who began making quilts in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s took their inspiration from the textiles, colors, and motifs of faraway lands. Many of the quilts mentioned in the article were made decades ago, and no photographs are available. However, many of these women are still making art and have websites where you can see their more recent work.
