We’re thrilled to introduce Lori Baker, our new creative editor. She’s an accomplished quilter with several years experience in the quilting industry and we know she’ll be a great asset to the staff. Here’s a greeting from her:
Wow! As I start my second week on the job my excitement continues. My first week was busy as I familiarized myself with projects in various stages and the systems and processes we use here. I’ve picked the brains of my kind and very patient coworkers many, many times. I’ve figured out the layout of the building and am slowly learning the names of everyone on site. I can tell already I’m going to love it here.
Our building is wonderful. I admire quilts and new fabric collections on the walls of offices and cubicles every time I pass through the halls, and the view of the foothills from my office window is inspiring. And the archives! Can you imagine being able to look back at every single issue of Quilters Newsletter since publication began in 1969?
Now allow me to tell you a little about myself. A native of Colorado, I’ve been sewing since I was a child and seriously quilting since the mid-1990s. My husband and I have 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 2 cats and a dog. It makes me smile that the last sentence didn’t seem complete until I mentioned our pets.
My personal sewing goal for the year is to finish two PIGS (Projects In Grocery Sacks) a month. I’m on target so far but with only one week remaining in March, I may have to stay up VERY late this week. I’ll let you know how I am doing as the months go by.
Now back to work on the next fabulous issue of Quilters Newsletter!

Congratulations Lori on becoming editor of quilt magazine. One day I will tell a story of a quilt my mother -in-law made for John and me.
Best wishes to Lori, one of the hardest working ladies I know.
I am inspired by your PIGS effort. It really does take commitment to go back and take up an old project and bring the work to closure. I am struggling with the same issue and very much like your style (keep up the great work) looking forward to hearing more from you and congratulations on the position.
Welcome Lori! I look forward to meeting you!
I just had to write and tell you my name is Lori Baker also, and when I saw this in my email box and started to read it, I about freaked out!! teehee.
Good Luck with your new position and I will continue to enjoy your newsletters.
The other Lori Baker.

Congratulations, Lori, and best of luck to you. I’m jealous that you have access to the archives: that alone would make the job worth taking! Imagine the joy of reading the magazine from birth to today……ahh, now there’s a job!
Welcome Lori!
I look forward to getting to know you bettere through the Quilters’ Newsletter. Good luck on your new position. Hopefully, your PIG project will inspire me to complete some of my unfinished quilting projects.
Best wishes,
Bettie
Welcome Lori:
I am a Canadian, retired priest who has been quilting for about 25 years. Your PIG project is so worthwhile. When I retired, I committed to finishing all of my Brown bag projects before I started anything new. It took me a year and a half, and tested my endurance many times, as there were so many projects that I was desperate to start, but what a satisfaction to finally have met my goal. My new goal after that was to not create any more Brown Bag projects. After five years I am still able to meet that goal.
Good Luck in the new job. Sandra Sugden
