Way To Go AAQI!

Our friends at Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI) are rapidly approaching the 10,000 donated quilt mark! AAQI has been receiving small format art quilts called “Priority: Alzheimer’s Quilts” since 2006. Those quilts are sold through monthly online auctions and sales and at International Quilt Festival in Houston each year to raise money for Alzheimer’s research. To date the organization has raised more than $713,000. Check out AAQI’s home page for the countdown to 10,000.

Well done AAQI!

Thank you, Quilters Newsletter! You’ve been with us since the very beginning! We are so grateful for your encouragement!

  2. Thank you Quilters Newsletter for sharing information about the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative! I lost my Dad to Alzheimer’s in December of 2010 and have been committed to raising money for research through AAQI since he was diagnosed in 2006. I am a quilter and I applaud the fact that the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative is a grass roots organization that is totally staffed by volunteers so that every available dollar can be used to fund research. I love your magazine!

Thanks for reminding us about the wonderful work Ami Simms has done and is doing. I’ve bought some gorgeous art for our walls from Alzquilts.org I visit that site often to see just what I can’t live without! I hope that you will post a reminder early each month so everyone will go, look and bid!

I love to do little quilts, pot holders, or coasters. They,re just fun! Sometimes I don,t have a lot of room to work. I’m hoping to quilt again, as I’m bed bound right now. I have my machine inmy room, it,s just getting down to another floor to get my things to quilt. I have a bunch of blocks cut out and ready to go. Pray, I can get it together.

  5. Isn’t it amazing what a group of quilters can do if they work together? I’m always thrilled to see the generosity and caring of quilters . . . and organizations like QN!
