As I spent time this weekend walking around our yard and looking at the garden, I realized that spring is truly here in Colorado. We may get another brief snowstorm but the crocus, tulips, and muscari in my yard have bloomed or are blooming. The trees have leaves; the pear tree is finished blooming. The pastures are greening up; there seem to be baby calves in every pasture that I see! I love spring – it is truly my favorite time of year.
It does get a little harder for me to make time to play at my sewing machine when spring arrives. The days are longer and the flower beds call for me to come and do some weeding. However, I did spend a significant amount of time this weekend quilting the first of my April PIGS (Projects In Grocery Sacks). Remember that I told you that I am trying to finish two PIGS a month. I’ve spent most of the month working on a quilt that is a little bigger than queen sized. I like to use my quilts as bed spreads so I want them to come nearly to the floor. This project was published in a magazine in the late 1990s as a baby quilt. I loved it so much that I made a jillion blocks to make it queen sized. But then I got sidetracked and it hid in my closet for years, literally. I hope to finish the quilt this coming weekend. Then I’ll have to finish a really quick project to stay on target with “The PIG Project.”
But in case you have no PIGS, no stash and are just waiting to start a project, I thought I’d give away some fabric. The lovely flowers and pretty colors in this panel and the eight fat quarters from Mary Fisher’s Earth Dancing collection for Troy Riverwoods say spring to me.
[Please note: This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to Stephanie! Winner of these beautiful spring fat quarters!]

I definitely have some PIGS and also some PIB. (box) Some are in the closet, some are under the bed, and some are on the dining room table. I probably will not live long enough to finish all the projects I have started, or planned to start. I certainly will never use up all my stash. Oh, well!
Lovely soft spring colors.

Such beautiful fabrics – soft and restful – I will be making a new quilt for my bed and these fabrics would be perfect – ensuring a quiet ending to hectic days.
Live in the desert where there is no color. All of my color is in my fabric and quilts. Would love to win the florals. Have the perfect quilt to put them in.

Hadn’t heard “pig” before. Very funny! I have lots waiting until I retire next month.

Spring has been beautiful in our part of Texas. I love fabrics that bring spring to mind.
It’s been Spring for some time in Texas but now I’m in Iowa I get to experience another Spring. I too love Spring – new life abounds!
