Spring International Quilt Market

What an eventful week I’ve had. I’m back in the office today after an exciting trip to Kansas City for the Spring International Quilt Market. I always think that part of the country is so beautiful. It is so green and there are so many trees.

Market was such fun; seeing old friends, making new friends, and seeing all the new patterns, products and fabric lines that will be coming soon. There were MILES of aisles to walk and so many booths to see. My head is still spinning thinking of all the ideas – some for me in my personal quilting life and some to share with you, our readers and social network friends. We filmed several segments for Quilters Newsletter TV, coming to our website in July. www.QuiltersNewsletter.com Stay tuned for more on that in coming weeks.

I remember my first machine (an old knee-controlled Singer loaned to me by my husband’s grandmother) and I think of the features that are available on machines now. Aren’t we spoiled? Modern technology makes it so much easier and faster to create beautiful things. I made a silk dupioni iPad holder on the new Elna Lotus. It’s a nice machine, quiet and easy to operate with good stitch quality. And now that I have an iPad holder – I think I need an iPad.

I brought back a stack of new rulers, patterns and tools that are sitting on my desk waiting for me to give them a test drive. I wonder if anyone will notice if I disappear to the sewing room this afternoon?

A bit of a side note … I saw Jamie Lee Curtis at the airport on Wednesday morning and we spoke to each other. Well, what actually happened was that we nearly collided; she said, “Sorry,” and I said, “Pardon me.” Does that count as a conversation?

Now I really need to work on my next project for the magazine. I’ll be talking to you again soon. In the meantime, keep up on our latest news and giveaways by following us on
