What a great week/weekend I’ve just had. I spent Thursday morning sewing on work projects and watering my yard then headed for Lincoln, Nebraska, the middle of the afternoon. But first I stopped in Gothenberg, Nebraska, and surprised my son and daughter-in-law. I got to tour the house they’re buying (closing is scheduled for this week). Then we enjoyed a Mexican dinner before I went on to Lincoln.
Friday was AccuQuilt’s 3rd Annual Barn Quilt Unveiling at their new headquarters in Omaha. The new facility is beautiful, and the organization of the event was amazing . The Barn Quilt block was spectacular.
AccuQuilt had planned to be in their new facility in April but one thing after another happened and they just finished moving last Monday. I enjoyed touring the headquarters, including the gallery and dream studio, where they had everything you’d need to sew, including all three sizes of AccuQuilt: the Studio, Go and Go Baby, and one of each of their dies.
And now a few photos…

This is the winning quilt block. It is 17’ x 17’ and will be displayed on the AccuQuilt headquarters for a year. It was created by Belinda Karls-Nace from Des Moines, Iowa.
Alex Anderson was one of the speakers. She said several things that I’d like to share:. 1. Quilting is all about what’s in your heart; you need to celebrate that. 2. You have a tool belt; you can choose how many tools to put in it. 3. When faced with a band of pirates coming to take over your ship, grab the oars and row. 4. The best thing about quilting is sharing my love and joy of the craft. Pass the thimble.

Here’s what the office area of the new facility looks like. The quilts can be easily taken down to be transported to shows.

The second place quilt block is displayed above the entry to the quilt gallery. This block is 5’ x 5’. Carol Johnson from Ontario, Canada is the designer of this block.
