Mystery quilts are an act of faith, really. Maybe you don’t like the proposed fabrics or the small images we tease with of the actual quilt, so you strike out bravely on your own, guided by our suggestions, choosing colors you love, but never quite sure.
Maybe you’re going it alone, maybe with a friend. Will the colors and blocks come together? Will it turn out gorgeous…will it be a mess? So you doubt, but you encourage each other. You wait for the next issue to arrive, the next clue. You rise to the challenge, trust the process. You persevere. All of a sudden, the last seam is sewn – clouds part, the sun shines down, and your quilt top is incredible! (Applause!) In the end, all it takes is a little patience, and a little faith.
Were you intrigued by Quilters Newsletter’s 2011 mystery quilt, Garden Delight? Made by Nancy Mahoney, it debuted in December/January 2011 and ran for six issues. Did you make your own version? We put out a call to receive photos by July 1st, and we got some wonderful photos. No matter the color palette, the results are amazing. Now we are hungry for more! Send us your photos of your version of Garden Delight. Put yourself in the photo too, after all, half the fun of admiring your quilt is to see the person who took on the mystery and won!

Where do you want photos sent? To your Facebook page or can we email them somewhere?
Thanks for the question, Heidi! Please send them to submissions@qnm.com and put Garden Delight in the subject line. If you want to say anything about your quilt please do so. Also, please make sure we can see the whole quilt including the binding and that the picture is large, at least 300 dpi and 1-2 MB in size.
