12 Days of Best Christmas Quilts Blog Tour — Day 6

Welcome back! We’re on Day Six of the 12 Days of Best Christmas Quilts Blog Tour and we’re thrilled with how well the first week went! The comments poured in and prizes have been shipped. We have more fantastic prizes and, of course, fantastic Best Christmas Quilts 2012 designers to visit with this week.

Today’s stop features Susan Emory and Christine Van Buskirk of Swirly Girls Design. Known for their modern approach to quilting, the Swirly Girls have produced several popular quilt patterns, designed the Circle Savvy Ruler for Creative Grids, and have two fabric lines with Michael Miller Fabrics and The Clubhouse Quilt Club.

Christmas Pie, 60" x 72", by Swirly Girls Design in Best Christmas Quilts 2012

The Swirly Girls designed Christmas Pie using quick-piecing and quick-applique techniques, and these bold blocks practically jump off the crisp white background of the quilt. Their use of modern Christmas fabrics from Michael Miller are bright and cheery–guaranteed to put a smile on anyone’s face!

You’ll find more quilts and products by Swirly Girls Design on their blog and website (not to mention a pie recipe at the bottom of their blog post!). If you leave a comment on the Swirly Girls Design blog by midnight MDT tonight – Monday, August 27 – you’ll be entered for a chance to win a bundle of free Christmas fabric from Michael Miller Fabrics, some of the same ones they used for Christmas Pie. Comments left on this blog will not be entered in the prize drawing.

  15. Joyce Robbins says:

It’s never too soon to start sewing for the holidays and having a new grandbaby this year is making life a bit more chaotic. Even though he is a July baby, his brother and sister are holiday babies, as is his other cousin, and his dad and auntie and me.
But having pretty fabrics to coax the mind into designs, and watching those ideas come into fruition is worth all the stress of making it work!
