The first pattern and designers I’d like to mention is Preppy by Susan Emory and Christine Van Buskirk of Swirly Girls Design, Inc. This modern quilt features the solids from the Cotton Couture line from Michael Miller Fabrics and would make a perfect gift for the new college student. Mix and match colors or prints to achieve your favorite palette or to give this quilt a more masculine tone.
American Dream, designed and made by ZJ Humbach
Retired U.S. Air Force Maj. ZJ Humbach designed and made this in memory of the adventures she and her husband experienced serving their country. Humbach used the Clermont Farms collection by Minick & Simpson for Moda, creating a vintage patriotic feel.
Bali Bamboo - Natalie Barnes
Inspired by the colors of the Bali Batiks from Hoffman California Fabrics, Natalie Barnes of Beyond the Reef designed this vibrant one-block table runner. She wanted to create the look of striking bamboo shoots over a forest background. Each block is the same, but then rotated to inject an improvised look.
Spinning Logs from Bev Getschel
Bev Getschel made this log cabin with a twist and added a bit of applique to freshen up a traditional pattern. Using European Taupe by Kinkame for Clothworks, this elegant bed quilt would add a touch of class to anyone’s bedroom.
