Well, it’s already the last day of our Best Fat Quarter Quilts Giveaway, and I don’t know about you all, but I can’t believe how fast this week flew by. A big thank you goes out to anyone who’s been participating all week long, we really appreciate your loyalty! As most everyone knows, this week was all about promoting our newest special issue, Best Fat Quarter Quilts 2012. Hopefully you’ve all gotten a chance to check it out at your local quilt shop, bookstore, newsstand or online (it’s available digitally!) at the Quilt and Sew Shop.
I also want to thank everyone who’s shown support to our wonderful designers and taken the time to peruse their blogs and websites. Here’s the last four patterns I’ll be featuring – if you see something you like, pop over to the designers’ blog and let them know!
First up today is our lovely cover quilt, Midnight at the Plaza by Chris Hoover of Whirligig Designs. Chris was inspired by a trip to Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza and used simple piecing and paid careful attention to color placement of solid fabrics to create this dramatic quilt.
Using her signature hand-dyed fabrics, Janet Jo Smith’s classic style shines through this beautiful throw. If you’re thinking of using commercial prints for Springtime, try using soft blenders or ombres to capture the sun-dappled look. See more of Janet’s work and hand-dyed fabrics on her website Dyesmithy.
Baby shower in two days and still no gift? Fantastical Zoo by Sara Gallegos is the perfect gift for any mom-to-be. This fast and easy crib quilt is designed to come together quickly and show off your favorite youthful prints. Sara showcased the Happy Drawing collection from Cloud9 Fabrics.
If you love charm packs as much as Jen Daly, then you’ll love her Charmed pillow sham. She says using these precuts is an easy way to use an entire fabric collection – like Sandhill Plums by Kansas Troubles Quilters for Moda – and her clever method for quick-pieced triangles will have you tackling the small half-square triangle borders with ease.
And courtesy of Moda and Cloud9 Fabrics, we’ll have two winners today.

Charm Packs for Moda: Harvest Moon by Kansas Troubles Quilters and Old Glory Gatherings by Primitive Gatherings
One lucky recipient will win a fat quarter bundle of Happy Drawing, Too! from Cloud9 Fabrics, while the other winner will receive three charm packs – two Harvest Moon by Kansas Troubles Quilters, and one Old Glory Gatherings by Primitive Gatherings, both for Moda. Leave a comment by midnight MDT tonight – February 1 – to enter to win one of these prizes. We’ll draw two names at random. One comment per person please. Open to those who haven’t won anything from Quilters Newsletter in the last 90 days.
Remember to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram to stay updated on all of our giveaways and everything Quilters Newsletter. Thanks so much again to everyone who has participated this week, and good luck to all contestants today!
