Happy Quilting Month! Quilts! Prizes! Love!

[Please note: this giveaway has ended. Congratulations to Julie B., and thanks to all of our participants!]

Can you believe it’s already March?! It seems like just yesterday that I was sleeping through New Year’s celebrations. But now the days are getting noticeably longer, the days just a teeeensy bit warmer and National Quilting Month is upon us. Hooray!

It’s a time to appreciate, admire and advocate quilts of all sorts. A month to reminisce and remember when and why you started quilting, and to share it with others who haven’t discovered it yet. And of course, to quilt as much as possible! I have several projects in the works that I am so antsy to finish, if I can find the time during National Quilting Month to make significant progress then I call that a successful celebration.

As you might imagine, we are pretty excited for it here at Quilters Newsletter. We love all things to do with quilting, and here is a whole month dedicated to it! Stay tuned for lots of fun happenings here on our blog all month long… Starting now! To spread the love of quilting far and wide we are offering not one, but two books to a lucky winner to inspire their love of quilting.

Quilt Love by Cassandra Ellis (The Taunton Press, 2012). “20 beautiful, inspiring and personal projects to stitch – that will unleash your creative spirit (Even if you’ve never quilted before).” This book is really nice because, as it says on the back, it is good for beginners but also the premise of the book is very sweet. Ellis proposes that every life event, whether happy, sad or in-between, is a milestone that probably deserves a commemorative quilt. She provides cool, simple and modern patterns and combines them with advice on how to personalize every project by using fabrics that have sentimental meaning to the recipient.

Liberty Love by Alexia Marcelle Abegg (Stash Books, 2012). If you are not familiar with Liberty of London fabrics, you should be. They have made so many beautiful prints in their long history, and are constantly creating new prints along with reissued prints. This book contains 25 projects with patterns and instructions for sewing with these dreamy fabrics. There are lots of quilt designs along with a few bags, accessories, and even clothing, so this is a well rounded collection that would appeal to any sewist.

It’s no coincidence that both these books contain ‘Love’ in the title. The first day of National Quilting Month is the perfect time to spread the love of quilting, and this is just the beginning.

Both of these ‘love’ly books will go to one lucky winner. For a chance to win, leave a comment letting us know your plans for National Quilting Month by midnight on Sunday, March 3rd, MST. One comment per person, please. Open to those who haven’t won anything from Quilters Newsletter in the past 90 days.

Make sure to keep informed about all our National Quilt Month goings-on by following us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. We’ll have it all on our website, too. Happy Quilting!
