America the Beautiful

[Please note: this giveaway has ended. Congratulations to Brenda, winner of the red, white and blue fabrics! Thanks to all for participating!]

I love the reds, white and blues of Americana. The American flag goes up on Memorial Day and stays up on my front porch until Veteran’s Day. By then it is usually snowing in Colorado, so the flag comes down for the winter. My father was a WWII veteran and very proud of his service and his flag and he passed that pride onto his five children.

So when I went to the Old Glory Antique Fair last weekend in Littleton, Colorado, I found lots that appealed to me. Glory11 225x300 America the Beautiful I really liked the quilt pattern below. Beautiful in these colors, but I can also imagine this pattern in charcoals and golds, or bright, clear pastels.

Glory2 225x300 America the BeautifulIf you love Americana, we have a great giveaway for you; 10 half-yard cuts of red, white and blues from Northcott.

I was on the Quilts of Valor web page today and I
would love to use this fabric for a quilt to donate. I have already made 5 quilts for kids with cancer so I think a Quilt of Valor is due next!

Would really love to win the Red, White and Blue fabrics. Have several ideas roaming around in my head – like most of us- that I could use these on. Never won, so fingers, toes and everything else is crossed. LOL

As we celebrate our great nation’s birthday, take time to thank God for our service men and women and the first responders who put their lives on the line for all Americans. Especially remember the 19 members of the Prescott AZ Granite Mountain Hot Shot crew who lost their lives trying to save homes from a wildfire that was started by a lightning strike. These men are true American heroes. God bless America!
