[Please note: this giveaway has ended. Congratulations to Roberta K., winner of the Crescendo fabrics! Thanks to all for participating!]
Another week, another free fabric giveaway! We’re continuing to give away fat quarter bundles of collections featured in the Staff Picks section of the August/September 2013 issue, because we figure if we loved it, chances are you will too.
But first, I want to share with you a few more things you’ll find in the August/September 2013 issue if you don’t already have a copy. As I said last week, there’s too much in each issue to fit comfortably into a single blog post. In addition to our cover quilt, Readers’ Quilt Show, Peerless feature and online slideshows, here are more things you’ll want to read about.
This issue’s Meetin’ Place subject is Valerie White of Denver. In her current art quilt series she’s exploring root systems and their relationship to the earth and people. As she puts it, “The mysteries that lie beneath the soil are fascinating.”
Berry Patch is an Intermediate pattern that’s a perfect way for you to finally use that set of precut 10″ squares you’ve been hoarding. Abigail Dolinger devised an easy way to get that controlled scrappy look without a lot of effort and with virtually no waste.
K Is for Kaleidoscope is an Easy pattern whether you make it the traditional way using templates or using Ramona Sorensen’s Triangle Template Trick, which we describe in the Easy Lesson. We give you yardage and instructions for both techniques.
We’re excited to have designer Thomas Knauer on board for a new series of feature commentaries that he’s calling “Quilt Matters.” His first thought-provoking column focuses on the question “Why Modern?” and uses as his main example Double Edged Love by Victoria Findlay Wolfe and Lisa Sipes, which won best of show at QuiltCon.
Additional peeks into this issue will have to wait for another giveaway. For now, let’s take a look at this week’s collection: Crescendo from Robert Kaufman Fabrics. This ornate collection is accented with metallic gold highlights and is available in three colorways. We’re also including three fat quarters of coordinating cotton/silk blend sateens — this stuff is gorgeous.
To be entered in the drawing for the Crescendo fat quarters, leave a comment below by 11:59 p.m. Mountain time on Sunday, August 4 (can you believe it’s August already?). One comment per person, please. Open to those who haven’t won anything from Quilters Newsletter in the last 90 days.
