Last week, I told you about hanging quilts with my hubby and how we approached the project from completely different ways.
I looked at it a couple of nights and we talked about not liking the way things were arranged so we did it over. So here is the wall of the living room after we moved the TV and the computer and moved two of the quilts so they show a little better.
We still plan to bring the roll-top desk to replace the drop-leaf table but I’ll figure that out when we actually have the desk up here.
We didn’t change the wall with the air conditioner and patio doors.
We liked the way that looks so well, we went on to the next wall. This is the wall opposite the TV where the love seat and Bake’s recliner will be. It is a nice big wall with room for big quilts. Here’s what we did on this wall.
This crazy quilt is one of my favorites. I like the way it looks but the story makes it even more special. It seems that is often the case – the story adds to the value of the quilt.
My mother-in-law, Onie, left me the contents of her sewing room. There was a whole stack of hankies and crocheted doilies and a box of crocheted lace edging for pillowcases. I always feel that pretty things are wasted if they are stored away in a drawer where they can’t be seen so I wanted to display the lace, doilies and hankies. Quite a few of the things were not in good shape. I made this crazy quilt adding the good parts of the lace and hankies, as well as lace from my stash. I’m delighted that Onie’s Hankies will fit in the main living area of our apartment.
I love Fat Felines, Fences and Flowers too. It was a block of the month quilt from Keepsake Quilting a LONG, long time ago.
I love the combination of applique and patchwork.
I made Bejeweled, the peach silk dupioni wall hanging in the middle of the wall to showcase an embroidery collection. It has lots of crystals for bling.
And Feet, Feet and More Feet was a sample for a class I used to teach. I decided even though it is meant to be a table runner, it was the perfect size for this spot so why not?
Hopefully the next time I show you photos of my apartment, we’ll have all the furniture moved up here and in place.
