(Please note: This giveaway has now ended. Congratulations to Becki! Thanks to everyone who entered.)
Last night brought us the first snow of the season here in Colorado, and it’s still falling a little bit this morning. Summer is truly over! Now we have to start thinking about scarves, snow boots, maybe some warm apple cider, and all that fall stuff. And quilts, though we never really stop thinking about quilts here! Guess what else is coming up that we have to think about? Halloween! BOO!
Perhaps you’ve seen the Halloween quilt that I designed and made to accompany our October/November 2013 issue, available at the Quilt & Sew Shop. It’s called Halloween Street and the pattern is available online only. Click here if you’d like to download the pattern. It’s actually very simple to make but it looks a lot more complicated than it is, due to all the fussy cuts of the costumed characters, I think.
The fabric line that I used for most of the fussy cuts is called Costume Club by Sherri Berry Designs for Lyndhurst Studio. It’s very cute. The little characters are perfect for fussy cutting and I even used some of the doors and windows as fussy cuts too. Fussy cutting can be pretty wasteful, but I managed to save fat quarters of each of the prints so someone else could put them to use. But who? Maybe you!
Here I’ve got 5 fat quarters of the Costume Club prints, along with an 11″ x 37″ length of Scary Night #2 by Laurie Godin for Northcott. That’s what I used for the landscape print in the quilt. There’s also a 7″ x 42″ cut of the star print used in the sky and an 11″ x 42″ cut of the spooky dark print in the borders, all from the same Northcott collection. And just because I like you, I’ll include fat quarters of each of the prints I used for the houses (all from different collections), as well as a fat quarter of a cool monster print fabric (Don’t Be Afraid by Northcott). Almost everything you’d need to recreate Halloween Street!
For a chance to win all this fabric, leave a comment below by 11:59 pm on Sunday, October 6th (MST). One comment per person, please. One winner will be chosen at random. Open to those who have not won anything from Quilters Newsletter in the past 90 days. Good luck to everyone who enters!
