Climbing Roses
The July/August 2003 (#354) issue of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine featured a collection of quilting patterns designed especially for QNM readers by Mary Leman Austin. Click the links below or download the PDF file for additional ways to position the Climbing Roses motif! A 4" border, 6" block and applique motif are shown.
For all motifs: The measurements given on the diagrams are the finished block sizes and finished border widths. If you want to use them on larger or smaller blocks, change the size on a photocopy machine.
Cut tracing paper the finished size of the block or border width. Fold the paper to correspond to the dotted lines on each diagram. Unfold, and draw the design on the paper. Mark the motifs as described. Transfer the design to the quilt top, and machine or hand quilt.
Download and print the 4" Border, 6" Block , 8" Applique Block.
Caution! Due to variations in equipment and settings, we cannot guarantee patterns will print out at the intended size. Please check printed templates against the measurements given and, if necessary, enlarge or reduce to the appropriate size.
