37" x 39", 2012, by Polly Dressler Bech of Strathmore, Pennsylvania. After seeing a quilt by Jan Myers-Newbury that used vertical seams and subtle color fading, Bech was tempted to maker her own version of it. Bech solar-prints her own cotton fabric, and for this quilt she hand-painted on top of it to intensify the color-play. She used her machine to piece and applique, and finished with hand quilting.
