Joan Musick
Author and Quilter

Joan Musick of Colorado Springs, Colorado, started sewing around age 12 and made most of her own clothing throughout junior high and high school. She also made her wedding dress as well. She made her first quilt in 1980, but the real quilting bug didn't hit until she made her first "Quilt-In-A-Day" in 1983, before rotary cutters arrived on the scene. When she won a blue ribbon for a quilt at the Colorado State Fair in 1988, the quilting addiction became full-blown. She has completed more than 100 quilts which she quilts on her domestic Bernina machine.

Joan has also created quilts to illustrate children's books, which she also authored: The Missing Flower Tops/The Midnight Snack and A Surprise For Turtle/The Happy Nappy Day, published by Mother's House Publishing of Colorado Springs, Colorado. More quilt and book combinations are in the works. She has also created child-size quilts and patterns to accompany each book.
