Photo Finish
Into His Light

By Patricia Pepe

This quilt was Patricia Pepe's first applique project, started in 1992. "Then I attended the American Quilter's Society show in Paducah in 1996, and my vision of what a quilt should be was totally transformed," she explains. Although it was already partially quilted, Patricia took the entire piece apart, redesigned it, and remade it. The quilt then went to the juried show at the International Quilt Festival/Houston in Texas in 2000. The Creston, California, quilter says she took the judges' comments seriously, and proceeded to enhance the 76" x 94" piece with further quilting and embellishment. "It finally felt right, " she says. Her perseverance paid off with a best of show win at the Pacific International Quilt Festival in 2003. Photo courtesy of Mancuso Show Management.
