A Quilter's Snowflake
Feathered Star Foundation Patterns
The December 2005 issue of QNM featured A Quilter's Snowflake, designed and made by Richard Larson. Richard's quilt can be made with traditional patch piecing methods or with paper-foundation piecing. If you prefer to paper piece, foundations for the "feathers" in the Feathered Star are given here. Use these foundations in place of the A and B patches given in the printed article.
Make 4 copies of each corner unit foundation pattern and 4 copies each of the side unit foundations by tracing or on a photocopy machine. Piece each foundation in numerical order. Complete the star as described in the issue.
Please note: The outer lines of the corner unit patterns shown on this page may be slightly outside your print area. Be sure to include a 1/4-inch seam allowance on all pattern pieces.
